MY FREE FITNESS PROGRAM –

I talk about personal trainers and what you are actually receiving when you hire one. I also talk about the incentive they may have to keep you in the dark about some information.

I used to be a personal trainer and I stopped taking clients to focus more on other areas of fitness, one of those being YouTube. I feel like personal training is too narrow of a scope. The goal should be education and there are better ways to do that. Many people go to personal trainers just for motivation and I think that needs to change.

  1. I Vlog Fue says:

Firstly that’s the goal that you make the person independent that’s why most people hire a trainer. The fact you even mentioned you over shared and didn’t want people to be self sufficient say a lot about why you had to quit. Some just want constant push and some eye candy. The fact is nowadays all information is available to everyone so they hire a fitness coach to help put it in practice. Thats that or for the above reasons mentioned.

I've been training with my PT for a while, great guy, super knowledgeable, but ready to branch out on my own. Hate that I have to have that convo with him, but it's expensive too

  3. AB says:

The best thing I ever did is join the most basic gym I could , and do 20 minutes jogging a day , nothing more , nothing less, watching a series on Netflix that I’m only allowed to view at the gym. What that did for me is create routine , I get home and even if I’m tired a little bird says “you can do 20 minutes” so off I go, and I get to watch Netflix . I’m not a gym bod sort of person , but what I needed was a jog and a sprint and to stick to it , by doing the 20 mins I never have to think yesterday I did 40 mins and then the next day you’re screwed because you only feel like doing 20. Using this way , even if I feel like jogging past 20 minutes I don’t, I press the stop button, and get off. Now some of you are going to say that this is not a great routine, but for me personally, and it is personal training after all, this has kept me going to the gym regularly and I feel much better than I ever have for it.

  4. Femme Naturel says:

5 years later and this video is still relevant today. I can’t find any good trainers willing to do 1-on-1 because they’re all switching to online based coaching. They’re going where the money is

  5. MadWithFit says:

You can make someone hit their goals while educating them, then you just move the goalposts. Generic plan to start with you identify weaknesses, next plan tell them their weaknesses and what their doing to improve them, generic plan 2 but more advanced lifts, then go to weaknesses again or strength building or mobility. There are plenty of ways to train someone, your job is to identify how to progress them to the next level not just help them complete the one they're on.

  6. Miko E says:

So basically you're in it only for the money and not to actually help people. You're supposed to actually love your job and do it well, not just do a crap job to sponge money from people and keep them with you as long as possible. All I'm hearing from you is that you'd rather push all round advice on a platform (won't be as helpful as a PT because everyone is different,) than be a PT because you're being paid more by YT, to me that's a pretty big red flag and I don't think I'll be watching more vids from you because of that.

  7. Captain Cook says:

This advice is terrible. When you have to manipulate just to keep your clients you shouldn’t be a personal trainer. It’s no wonder you stop being a personal trainer. You had the wrong motives.

  8. demarcus grant says:

Most of y’all are forgetting that everything is a business and most of humanity is no longer nice enough to give you everything you need to be independent and they have to look out for themselves

  9. Bambam Diaz says:

Man where are you I need you until we become brothers. I understand this 100% I’ve been on the side of the client and got to the point where I “don’t need” my trainer…but I did needed him in the end. His motivation and companionship and support to me is the MOST IMPORTANT. At least for me this is a psychological fight more than anything overall.

  10. K Creative says:

It’s good if they become proficient… that means you did your job! Means it’s time to get another client and do it all over again. Because there are plenty of Normies out there that you can obtain as a client. That attitude is greedy and why people fail at fitness

  11. Melissa S says:

I’m not sure if it’s the same thing or not but, as a therapist, your whole goal is to set your client up so they don’t need you— to facilitate their ability to instill meaningful, lasting, healthy change. Then your reputation is built on that and that’s how I attract more clients. I don’t know if that applies to being a personal trainer, but that’s how it works in my field. It seems unethical to be in the business of helping people with their health with the goal of making them feel they need you for years and years. I can understand the need of a refresher, or coming back due to a tragedy, but having someone just continually come into my office for years and not learning anything would mean I’m not a good therapist.

  12. Christina Schnoor says:

How do you get form corrections without a PT ? 😅😂 I have no idea if I am doing it right when I am at the gym just from looking at online sources.

  13. monkeybargym says:

"Believe in yourself. You have to set goals. You have to have a vision. You need to stand by your values no matter what. You've gotta have the courage, to put yourself out there, to be disliked.

And you also need to have the humility, to learn from your mistakes, and keep evolving over time. The world doesn't owe you anything.

It's on you to take responsibility, to take ownership for your actions, and to go out there and get it. The world is going to distract you with all these different things,

all these different options, other people are going to doubt you, you are going to doubt yourself. Forget that. You've got to believe in yourself, and take action.

  14. Michael Jameson says:

I dont want to spend money on a personal trainer, because I'm more than capable of learning on my own, but it's more about actually doing it.. sure I'll show up to the gym.. but ill lose motivation quick I wont go as hard ill always skip body parts because I hate doing them.
